The machine's nature was to demand more. It dictated to man how he should live. It asked for more and weary men made more to satisfy the machine, in turn taking more for themselves. The machine turned a blind eye, as it was satisfied.
Man equipped himself with possessions as demanded by the palace. Man shielded his eyes from those without possessions as they were shameful to look at.
The more man accumulated the faster he traveled to the center of the machine. At the center man could rest forever in paradise.
Those who were born into good fortune or good fortune came to them believed they were gifted and became ego driven and narcissistic looking at their reflections. Great honors were bestowed upon them. Great gatherings took place to see them and their images was reproduced throughout the palace and their names were written in stone.
The only time man looked outside the machine was when he died. Man grieved for his youth, the endless years dedicated to the machine. He mourned happiness and fulfillment.
On man's death bed he called to the outside for forgiveness.© 2010
